Cape Town wedding photographer.
Natural, timeless wedding photography and film for couples who want beautiful photographs without spending their wedding day performing for the camera.
Cape Town wedding photographer and filmmaker working throughout the city, Cape Winelands, Western Cape and beyond.
Beautiful photographs. A wedding that still feels like yours.
Choosing a Cape Town wedding photographer is about far more than choosing a photographic style. You're choosing someone who will be beside you for most of one of the biggest days of your life.
My approach is calm, guided and people-focused. I'll step in when direction genuinely helps, but I don't believe your wedding should be turned into a production for photographs. The goal is to give you the space to enjoy your guests, your families and everything that is actually happening around you.
After seventeen years of photographing weddings across Cape Town and the Western Cape, I've learned when to take charge, when to quietly solve a problem and when the best thing a photographer can do is simply get out of the way.
The result is wedding photography that feels elegant and considered, but still honest: photographs of the people you love, the moments you expected and the ones you never saw.
Calm guidance. Real moments. Nothing forced.
You don't need to know how to pose.
Most couples aren't used to being professionally photographed. I'll give you simple direction when you need it so you look relaxed without ever feeling staged.
The wedding comes before the photography.
Portrait time is considered and efficient. You get the photographs without disappearing from your celebration for half the afternoon.
The people matter more than the production.
Parents, grandparents, friends, speeches, embraces and unexpected reactions often become more valuable with time than the photographs we could have planned.
Experience makes the day easier.
Cape Town weather, shifting timelines and changing light are part of wedding photography. I work around them quietly so you don't have to.
Cape Town, the Cape Winelands and the Western Cape.
Cape Town
City celebrations, Constantia vineyards, Atlantic coastline and mountain settings. Cape Town offers completely different light and atmosphere from one wedding venue to the next.
Stellenbosch
Historic estates, vineyards, oak-lined roads and some of the Cape's best-known wedding venues. I photograph weddings throughout the Stellenbosch region.
Franschhoek
Mountain backdrops, wine farms and destination celebrations. Franschhoek is one of the most distinctive wedding regions in the Cape Winelands.
Paarl
Grand estates, vineyards and dramatic mountain light, with wedding venues that range from contemporary to classic Cape architecture.
Somerset West
From elegant estates to mountain-facing venues, Somerset West and the Helderberg offer incredible variety within easy reach of Cape Town.
Overberg & beyond
Farm weddings, coastal celebrations and open landscapes beyond the mountains, as well as destination weddings elsewhere in South Africa and abroad.
Knowing the light matters. Knowing when not to chase it matters too.
Wedding photography in Cape Town comes with its own set of variables. Summer light can be hard and bright, the wind can arrive without warning, mountain weather changes quickly and winter timelines often leave less daylight than couples expect.
Experience means thinking about those things before they become your problem. At venues I know, I already understand how the light moves and which locations work at different times of day. At somewhere new, I arrive with enough time to work that out before you need me.
The point isn't to manufacture perfect conditions. It's to know how to create strong photographs in the conditions your wedding actually gives us.
Two ways to remember the same day.
Timeless photographs, without a timeless photoshoot.
Full wedding photography focused on people, relationships and the atmosphere of the day. Natural when the moment is already there; gently directed when it helps.

I'm Kobus Tollig.
I'm a Cape Town wedding photographer and filmmaker working throughout the Western Cape and further afield for destination weddings.
I've photographed more than 450 weddings over seventeen years. That experience affects far more than camera settings. It means knowing how to keep people comfortable, how to work efficiently, how to manage family photographs without chaos and how to see moments developing before they disappear.
My aim is simple: you should enjoy your wedding and receive photographs that become more valuable as the years pass.

What makes a good Cape Town wedding photographer?
A strong portfolio matters, but consistency matters more. Look beyond a photographer's best ten photographs and ask to see complete wedding galleries. A full wedding includes midday sun, dark interiors, family photographs, speeches, dance floors and everything between the hero images.
Experience with Cape Town and Winelands weddings is valuable because the region changes dramatically by season and location. A photographer needs to work comfortably in bright summer sunlight, unpredictable wind, low winter light, vineyards, city venues and dark receptions without making the day feel technical.
Personality matters too. Your photographer is one of the suppliers who spends the most time near you on the wedding day. You should feel comfortable with the way they communicate, direct people and handle pressure.
That's why I prefer having a conversation before a couple books. The photographs need to feel right, but the person behind the camera needs to feel right as well.
