The approach

Wherever the wedding happens, the principle stays the same: the day should never feel like it belongs to the camera.

Weddings in South Africa

Different landscapes. Different celebrations. The same responsibility.

South Africa gives couples an extraordinary range of places to get married. Vineyards outside Cape Town, private farms, coastal venues, city celebrations, game reserves, mountain settings and family properties can all create completely different wedding days.

My job as a South African wedding photographer is not to make all of those weddings look the same. It is to understand the place, the people and the rhythm of each day, then photograph it in a way that feels considered without making it feel overproduced.

I am based in the Western Cape, but photograph weddings throughout South Africa and travel wherever the right wedding takes me.

Across the country

South African weddings don't belong to one landscape.

02 / Garden Route

Coast, forests + mountains

Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, George and the surrounding Garden Route offer a very different kind of wedding: destination weekends, coastal weather and celebrations where guests often travel together for several days.

03 / Gauteng

Johannesburg + Pretoria

Large celebrations, elegant city venues, country estates and weddings built around substantial families and guest lists. I travel to Gauteng for both photography and combined photo and film coverage.

04 / Beyond

Anywhere the wedding is worth travelling for.

KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape, Free State, Northern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and private destinations throughout the country are all possible. Geography should not decide who photographs your wedding.

Not a template

Your photographs should belong to your wedding.

A wine estate in Stellenbosch should not be photographed exactly like a bushveld wedding in Limpopo. A black-tie city celebration should not feel identical to a relaxed farm wedding.

I want the photographs to carry something of the place: its light, architecture, landscape, weather and atmosphere — without letting any of those things become more important than the people themselves.

What travelling changes

The location changes. The way I work doesn't.

01

I arrive prepared.

Destination weddings require more than simply arriving with cameras. Travel, access, light, venue logistics and the timing of the day are considered before the wedding begins.

02

You still get guidance when you need it.

You do not need to know how to pose or manufacture moments. I will direct portraits clearly when required, then get out of the way when the stronger photograph is already happening.

03

Your guests remain part of the story.

If people have travelled across provinces or countries to celebrate with you, they matter. Family, friendships, reactions and the energy of the room are part of the photographs, not background decoration.

Experience

Experience matters even more when the wedding is far from home.

Getting married in Cape Town or the Winelands?

Cape Town is the part of South Africa I photograph most extensively. If your wedding is in Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl or the Winelands, you can explore the dedicated local wedding photography page.

One team for both sides of the story.

Photography

Photographs that still make sense years later.

Natural moments, considered portraits, family, atmosphere and everything happening between the obvious parts of the day.

Film

Movement, voices and the sound of the room.

Photography and film are created as one team, which means your wedding is not being pulled in different directions by two crews competing for the same moment.

Practical questions

Getting married somewhere else in South Africa?

Do you photograph weddings outside Cape Town?

Yes. I photograph weddings throughout South Africa. Cape Town and the Western Cape are my home base, but I travel nationally for the right weddings.

Do you travel for both photography and film?

Yes. Photography-only, film-only and combined photography and film coverage can all travel depending on the wedding.

When should we enquire for a destination wedding?

Earlier is generally better, particularly for Saturdays during the main wedding season. Travel weddings require slightly more planning than weddings close to home.

Can we meet before booking?

Absolutely. I prefer starting with a short online conversation. It gives you a chance to ask questions and gives both of us a chance to see whether the fit feels right before anything is booked.

Tell me where in South Africa you're getting married.

Send me your date, venue and a little about the two of you. I'll personally check availability and take it from there.
