What I notice when I walk into a venue.
The ceremony light.
Where the sun will be, which direction guests face and how the light changes during the ceremony often matters more photographically than how the space looks at midday on a venue tour.
How far everything is from everything else.
A beautiful venue can still create a stressful timeline if getting-ready rooms, ceremony, portraits and reception are far apart. Good flow gives you more time with people and less time moving between places.
Where portraits can happen quickly.
The best venue is not necessarily the one with fifty portrait locations. It is often the one where two or three strong locations are close enough that we can create variety without taking you away from your celebration.
What happens if the weather changes.
Wind, rain and hard summer light are part of Cape weddings. I always notice what a venue gives us when the obvious outdoor plan is no longer the best option.
