What I notice when I walk into a venue.
The ceremony light.
Where the sun will be, which direction guests face and how the light changes during the ceremony often matters more photographically than how the space looks at midday on a venue tour.
How far everything is from everything else.
A beautiful venue can still create a stressful timeline if getting-ready rooms, ceremony, portraits and reception are far apart. Good flow gives you more time with people and less time moving between places.
Where portraits can happen quickly.
The best venue is not necessarily the one with fifty portrait locations. It is often the one where two or three strong locations are close enough that we can create variety without taking you away from your celebration.
What happens if the weather changes.
Wind, rain and hard summer light are part of Cape weddings. I always notice what a venue gives us when the obvious outdoor plan is no longer the best option.

What are the best wedding areas in the Cape Winelands?
Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl and Wellington are the main wedding areas in the Cape Winelands. Stellenbosch has an especially wide range of estates and styles, Franschhoek is strong for destination weddings and mountain settings, while Paarl and Wellington offer large estates, gardens and open vineyard landscapes.
Which Cape Winelands wedding venue is best for photographs?
There is no single best venue. Ceremony light, mountain orientation, available shade, portrait locations, weather alternatives and the distance between the important parts of the property usually matter more than how famous the venue is.
Should we choose Stellenbosch or Franschhoek for our wedding?
Both are excellent wedding destinations. Stellenbosch gives you a very broad range of historic, modern and vineyard estates, while Franschhoek often feels more like a contained destination valley. The right choice depends on the scale, atmosphere and guest experience you want.
