Franschhoek is one of the most distinctive wedding regions in the Cape: dramatic mountain backdrops, vineyards, old farm buildings, gardens and destination venues that can feel completely different from one another within only a few kilometres.
The valley also changes quickly through the day. Summer sun can be bright and direct, mountain shadows arrive earlier than couples expect, and winter weddings have a much shorter window of daylight. Those things affect how I plan portrait time, family photographs and where we work — without making them your problem on the day.
After seventeen years and more than 450 weddings, I know the point is not to chase every beautiful piece of scenery Franschhoek offers. It is to use the setting well, work efficiently and let you get back to the celebration you actually came there to have.
Calm when you need it. Direction when it helps.
You do not need to know how to pose.
When a portrait needs direction, I'll give it clearly. When the stronger photograph is already happening, I leave it alone.

Do you photograph weddings throughout Franschhoek?
Yes. I photograph weddings throughout Franschhoek and the surrounding Cape Winelands, as well as Stellenbosch, Paarl, Cape Town, Somerset West, the Overberg and destinations further afield.
Have you photographed Franschhoek wedding venues before?
Yes. My work in the Franschhoek Valley includes weddings at Boschendal, La Paris Estate and Plaisir Wine Estate, amongst others. Knowing a venue helps, but the more important skill is being able to read changing light and make good decisions quickly without slowing the wedding down.
Do you offer both wedding photography and film?
Yes. Couples can book photography, film, or have both covered together. When photography and film are booked together the team works as one unit, which keeps the day much less intrusive.
How far in advance should we enquire?
Franschhoek is a popular destination wedding region and peak Saturdays can book well in advance. Once your venue and date are confirmed, it is worth checking availability rather than waiting until every other part of the wedding has been finalised.
