Intimate bride and groom portrait on their wedding day
Real weddings / real people
The point of view

Beautiful photographs are important. But they should never come at the expense of actually experiencing the day.

Selected work

The portraits matter. So do all the things that happen around them.

The experience

Calm when you need it. Direction when it helps. Space when it matters.

01

You do not need to know how to pose.

I'll guide you clearly when a photograph needs direction, without turning the day into a sequence of poses. You can relax. That's my responsibility.

02

Your people remain the priority.

The photographs should include the portraits you hoped for, but also the people, reactions, conversations and moments you didn't know were happening around you.

03

Experience keeps things uncomplicated.

Timelines shift. Weather changes. Families take longer than expected. After hundreds of weddings, those things are part of the job rather than reasons for your wedding to become stressful.

Photography + film

One day. Two ways to remember it.

Photography

The moments you can hold onto.

Full wedding photography built around people rather than trends. Honest moments, strong portraits, family, atmosphere and the little pieces of the day that grow more valuable with time.

Film

The moments you can hear again.

The movement, voices, laughter, speeches and energy a photograph cannot contain. Photography and film work together as one team, rather than competing for the same moment.

Elegant bride and groom wedding portrait in the Western Cape
Considered, not constructed

Elegant does not have to mean staged.

There is a place for direction. There is also a point where too much direction takes you out of your own wedding.

The balance is knowing when a portrait needs refining and when the stronger photograph is already happening without any help from me.

Wedding photographer and filmmaker Kobus Tollig
Behind the camera

I'm Kobus.

I've spent more than fifteen years photographing weddings and learning that the real work has very little to do with telling people to smile at a camera.

It's knowing when someone needs direction, when a family needs organising, when a timeline needs help and when an emotional moment needs absolutely nothing from me except attention.

My job is to make the photography feel easy while creating photographs and films that still matter long after the flowers, music and table settings are gone.

In their words

How the photographs feel matters. So does how it felt making them.

“Nothing felt rushed or forced. His calm presence allowed us to stay fully present while he captured the most genuine moments.”
Richard & Lauren
“Kobus felt like part of our wedding day, not someone just taking photos. His calm presence put everyone at ease.”
Storm & Monique
“It genuinely felt like having friends by our side rather than a photographer and videographer.”
Christiaan & Maret
