The approach

The island can be spectacular. Your wedding still needs to be about the people standing in it.

Why Mauritius

A destination wedding that can feel like a holiday for everyone you love.

A destination wedding in Mauritius brings together beautiful landscapes, established resort hospitality and the chance to spend several days with the people who travelled to celebrate with you. As a South African wedding photographer travelling to Mauritius, I photograph the island as part of the story rather than treating it as a backdrop for a long portrait session.

From Le Morne and Black River on the south-west coast to Flic-en-Flac, Grand Baie in the north and Belle Mare on the east coast, different parts of Mauritius have their own visual character. Beaches, tropical gardens, mountain views, resort architecture, wind, cloud and the direction of the light all influence how a wedding photographs.

My aim as your Mauritius wedding photographer is to use those surroundings without letting them overwhelm the reason we're all there. The photographs should still be about the two of you, your families and the people who travelled to Mauritius to celebrate with you.

Mauritius wedding locations

From Le Morne to Belle Mare, every coast has a different character.

01 / Le Morne + South-West

Mountains, beaches and dramatic evening light.

Le Morne and the south-west combine the Indian Ocean with one of Mauritius's most recognisable mountain backdrops. Resorts such as Dinarobin Beachcomber and Paradis Beachcomber make this part of the island especially appealing for destination weddings.

02 / Belle Mare + East Coast

Long beaches and refined resort celebrations.

Belle Mare and the east coast are home to well-known Mauritius resorts including LUX* Belle Mare, One&Only Le Saint Géran and Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita. The coast feels open, tropical and especially suited to multi-day resort weddings.

03 / Grand Baie + North

A lively northern base with beaches close by.

Grand Baie and the north offer a different rhythm from the quieter resort coasts, with easy access to beaches and wedding locations around Trou aux Biches and Balaclava. It works well for couples building a wider Mauritius wedding weekend around guests.

04 / Flic-en-Flac + Black River

West-coast sunsets and relaxed celebrations.

Flic-en-Flac and Black River are strong choices for couples drawn to Mauritius sunsets, warmer late-afternoon light and a more relaxed west-coast feel, with both mountain and ocean scenery within reach for wedding photography.

The experience

A Mauritius destination wedding does not need to become a destination photoshoot.

01

Direction when it helps.

I'll guide you when a portrait needs direction, help you find flattering light and make small adjustments without turning the afternoon into a production.

02

Your guests remain part of the story.

Destination weddings ask people to travel a long way to be with you. The laughter, conversations, family and friendships around you deserve to be photographed as carefully as the couple portraits.

03

Mauritius light needs planning.

Mauritius can move quickly between strong tropical sun, cloud, wind and soft evening light. Planning portraits around the location and time of day makes an enormous difference without taking you away from the celebration for hours.

Behind the camera

I'm Kobus.

I'm a South African wedding photographer and filmmaker with seventeen years of experience, travelling to Mauritius for destination weddings and elopements. A Mauritius wedding is often more than one event — it can include welcome dinners, time with guests, the wedding day itself and celebrations around the trip.

More than 450 weddings have taught me that experience shows up less in how much noise a photographer makes and more in knowing what needs attention, what needs direction and what should simply be left alone. That same approach travels with me to Mauritius: calm coverage, strong portraits and space for the wedding to feel like a wedding.

Good to know

A few Mauritius wedding questions.

Are you a Mauritius wedding photographer based on the island?

I'm based in South Africa and travel to Mauritius for destination weddings and elopements. This gives couples the option of bringing one photography and film team with them, while travel is quoted clearly according to the wedding location and dates.

Where in Mauritius do you photograph weddings?

I photograph destination weddings across Mauritius, including celebrations around Le Morne, Belle Mare, Grand Baie, Flic-en-Flac, Black River, Trou aux Biches and other resort, beach, garden and private wedding locations around the island.

Do you offer Mauritius wedding photography and videography together?

Yes. Photography-only, film-only and combined wedding photography and videography can all be arranged for Mauritius. When both are booked, the team works together with one approach rather than competing for the same moments.

Can you photograph a full Mauritius destination wedding weekend?

Yes. Mauritius destination weddings often make additional coverage worthwhile, whether that is a welcome dinner, pre-wedding gathering, the wedding day, a day-after session or another part of the celebration with your guests.

How much does a Mauritius wedding photographer cost?

Full-day Mauritius wedding photography and film collections currently start at $4,250 and typically extend to around $7,300. Travel is additional and depends on the exact dates, resort or venue, and the logistics required for your celebration.
